my trip to grande prairie
<< >>
so nicole and i headed out to grande prairie to see jenn's new baby on friday. we left st. albert around nine thirty. the roads weren't to horrible considering it was snowing and the such. the highways were much better then the city streets. anyways we are travelling along and nicole pops in a tape in as we had lost the radio. we were not to far from whitecourt at the time. i noticed about five minutes later that my battery light had turned out. so we turned everything off and kept going. everything on the dash started to fade and eventually nothing worked. so i stopped in whitecourt at a garage and ask them to take a look at the car. well they tested the battery and the alternator and nothing was wrong with me car. they said it was fine. most likely some snow blew up into the alternator and shorted it out for a few minutes.
so we then proceed on our way to grande prairie. we get to fox creek and i went to pass this little car. the passing lane was pretty slushy and i shouldn't have passed her but i hate driving behind people. anyways i went to pass her and ended up losing control of the car in the slush. we spun around a few times and landed on the other side of the road in the ditch. it wa scary. we were so lucky there was no oncoming traffic in the other lane as it wasn't a part of the divided highway.
nicole called ama and the towed us out of the ditch. we were pretty deep. that'll teach me for trying to pass people when i shouldn't.
the visit up there was really good. the baby is so cute. she has the chubbiest cheeks. she is such a good baby too. she hardly ever cried and when she did it was more fussing then anything and it took pretty much nothing to make her stop. such a content baby. pat really like the little oilers outfit that heather got alyssa. she looked so cute in it. we put it on with some jeans. she was stylin'.
so we came home on monday. i got up early and tried to start the car around nine. i didn't fiqure it would start as it was pretty cold out and the car wasn't plugged in. so i waited for the weather to warm up and tried again at eleven. it still didn't want to work so nicole and i pushed the car around the corner so we could plug in the car. i tried after an hour and it still wouldn't work.
we then got jenn's dad to come and boost the car but that didn't work either. he didn't fiqure that he had enough power in his car to get mine started.
so we called shaun, jenn's sisters husband and got him to leave work to try and get it started. he has a truck so we thought that would work. he tried and tried and the darn thing just wouldn't turn over. so he takes off my air filter and starts to fiddle around with some stuff and ends up taking a screwdriver and lodging it in my engine.
eventually after some mishaps and shaun nearly losing an eyebrow the car started. yay. we all did a happy dance.
we left grande prairie around 2:30pm. so much for getting an early start. the drive home was uneventful as the roads were really really good. it looked like the graters had a chance to go out and clear everything.
so that was my trip. it was fun and a learning experience as well. lets hope the week goes okay as it doesn't seem like it just yet. i'm really considering applying with westjet and relocating to either grande prairie or calgary. they pay like nineteen dollars an hour. the only thing that would suck is that i would have to move. oh well. its something to think about.
talk to you all later
